Worling Takes Series Round Victory
18/01/2009 3:48:23 PM - Lismore Speedway PR

Greg Worling took out the third round of the G & W Racing Modified Production Sedan Series at Lismore Speedway on Saturday night.

Rod Parmenter filled the runner-up placing while Darren Lester was third.

It was a race of high attrition where only eight cars finished the event and with it went the usual hard luck stories of the encounter.

Toowoomba's Peter Gray looked good early after he started from pole position. He showed a good turn of speed and looked a strong contender in the initial stages before an engine failure sent him to the infield.

Meanwhile Dennis Bullpitt also was impressive and ran strongly in fifth spot before he was sidelined with a broken axle. Another contender Matt Swarbrooke also fell by the wayside with a flat tyre.

Meanwhile there were some impressive performances in the race.

Parmenter's second placing came after a big drive from starting position 13 and Lester's third followed a herculean effort after he started from the rear of the field.

Fourth man home in the event was Gavin Fletcher who was followed by New South Wales Champion Steve Price, Mitchell Randell, Garry Maroske and Aiden Raymont the only other finishers.

Other main event winners on the night were Roy Urpath (Formula 500s), Glenn Armstrong (Four Cylinder Sedans), Scott Quirk (Street Stocks) and Jimmy Knight (AMCAs).

Lismore Speedway next weekend will host one of the big shows of the current season with a two-night Australia Day spectacular. Highlight will be the running of the V8 Dirt Modified Masters, featuring the appearance of American Champion Jimmy Phelps, and also the Compact Speedcar Trans-Tasman Challenge.
