Cleaning a Leica M9 Sensor with a Rocket Blower

Never clean sensor on "B" mode, for that you have "sensor cleaning mode" in camera.
-
But then, even if you clean the sensor, I think you should also clean the len's elements as well since... you face it like that... and dust can probably set itself onto the elements.

I just cleaned the sensor of my Leica M9-P with clutch and brake cleaner.

I am getting spots on the images when I get to the post processing. Will I need to get a professional clean on my M9? Thank you for the video BTW.

That will not get any burned on dirt spots off, the blower brush is used to clean the camera housing then a Arctic Butterfly, wadding and solution are applied to remove the stubborn residue.
All this is best done when the camera as stood unused over night, so the sensor isn't charged. Otherwise it will be worse than before you started.

@BulboGrubb First off, English is my third language after French and Italian. My English might not be perfect, but it didn't stop me from scoring at the top percentile in New York during my Regents and SAT's when i was younger. Quite a lot higher than my American colleagues.
Second, i own Leica bodies and glass (to be precised an M3 (chrome), M6 (black) and M7 (chrome), with a little assortment of Leica glass and some Nokton glass).
3 month late, but work keeps me busy.

@shadowblack1987 yeah if its a toy for you then you really dont know anything about it, have you thought of how a rangefinder works in the field? maybe you're a fashion/commercial photographer, then the M9 would be pretty much a useless "toy" for you. Not all cameras are made the same, learn before you speak, and btw it's "towards the wealthy enthusiasts" get your grammar in check?
-
@shadowblack1987 it's a rangefinder, get you facts straight.
@flashgunfilms if you're happy with your Canon system then good for you, especially your 550D
I dont understand people like you two, you complain about how this "camera" is overpriced, if you can't afford one then just shut the hell up. If you want one then earn one. Complain on some review forum or something, but here on a tutorial on cleaning a M9? Why are you guys even watching this video in the first place?

@m1ggyzzz My point stands :)
Great little overpriced toy. Colleague loves his, but we never use it for professional work.
Thats why its oriented toward wealthy enthusiasm. Nothing wrong with that though :)

Cool, I have the rocket duster too.

@flashgunfilms I'm just so tired of the eternal Canon vs Nikon vs Olympus vs Sigma vs... debate... It steals the focus from what made me fall in love with photography, namely stuff like aesthetics, soul, feelings, emotion, and... great tools that got out of the way. I really miss the simplicity of film cameras. Shutter, aperture, shoot. Not a lot of tech whizz bang stuff. That said, I see your point. But the Leica is very very slim (flat) considering the FF sensor for an antidust system.
Doesn't hurt the camera at all and I've been doing this for 6 months every few days. The only side effect is a clean sensor:)

Yes, you should but I never do and never have a dust issue. Lots of what you hear online is over paranoid nonsense but yes, it wouldn't hurt to blow off the rear of the lens.
