Just a quick demonstration of the HP TM2 Touchsmart tablet laptop. It already runs pretty quick out of the box, but if you want maximum performance, you of course will need to deactivate or uninstall the HP Touchsmart features (meant more for the capacitive touch ability). That HP stuff isn't really necessary for doing artwork though, so go ahead and deactivate or uninstall those.

That's pretty much it. This comes with an Intel i3 processor, 4gb ram, and 500gb harddrive. It's already quite fast, but if you're a bit greedy, you can probably swap out the harddrive with a solid state and that'll make it an even faster system to sketch or animate in flash or whatever else.

Also, I know it's not fair to compare something like this to the Asus T101, I just want to say that you are getting your money's worth with the TM2. This HD video was also edited comfortably on the TM2, so there's a lot more than just sketching that can be done. It can be your sketchbook and your main computer.

  • I was told that tablet laptops have a delay while drawing in it and I've been dying to get one of these for myself. Does it really have a noticeable delay?

  • @maikoka1 depends on what tablet- on much older hardware, sure. but this is an intel i3 and windows 7 runs the wacom drivers fairly quick, so no- there is no real noticeable delay. quite honestly, other than a larger table size, i'm not sure why anyone would get a cintiq over this...

  • Can you set the pressure sensitivity properties like with normal wacom tablets?

I usually set the threshold really low and the sensitivity high.

  • @omtay well i dunno if there are inherent settings, like for whatever drivers Win7 is using, but i know you can do settings from within the app that you're using- like Photoshop or Sketchbook Pro

  • will it work well for animation..

  • @egonzalez017 yeah it works pretty well, I've used it to do a few character animations in flash. i think it will also work well for any other animation software.

  • Looks nice. You could probably create a quick macro with something like AutoHotKey to turn off the service by using a shortcut instead of having to do it all manually each time.

  • @cforcalvin Thank you for replying, you have no idea how important this is for me :)

  • how many levels of pressure?
