Each student in the Design class was charged with the task of designing a container that would protect a normal, untampered egg from a 20 foot drop. To succeed, the egg could not crack in any way. The container must only be made of balsa wood, toothpicks and glue. My design incorporates a propeller to slow the descent of the container, and a sturdy frame around the egg that includes "crush zones" (made from toothpicks) to absorb the energy of the impact, without transferring that energy to the egg.
