  • I believe it is naive to simplify such a complex problem by blaming the issues of today on whether mom's are working or staying at home. It takes a family to raise a child, so why don't we stop hating one another and realize that everyone is doing what they believe their best is. A lot of today's problems are due to blame and making someone wrong when the truth is you don't know what the person's intimate situation is.

  • I find it interesting the amount of emotions working moms vs. stay at home mom's evokes in women. Why is it necessary to cut another woman down? Why do we not trust each other and believe that each of us is doing what we belief is best for ourselves and our families? I find some of the comments belittling, judgmental and come across with a very accusing tone. Divorce, moving, working, day care are all difficult decisions. Why is it necessary to ridicule those that make different choices?

ok i know many of u will be offended by my comment, so i'l try to end on a good note

if u really feel thta u NEED all this stuff and NEED a part-time job then why don't u work part-time until ur child can be asked about it (8-12, mbe even 7)

ask them if they would mind u working a little extra, and outline the benefits to them of you working extra hours

then theyd be included and can learn a bit of independance in the process

  • I personally find a lot of your assumptions offensive. They are very judgmental, assuming and generalizations. It seems that you have a few experiences that you are generalizing onto all working mom's and that is just not true. What's about trusting other women that they are making the best decisions based on the options they have in front of them?

  • Oh GOD, these nazi stay-at-home-moms need to get a grip and join us in the twenty-first century. If you're truly self-satisfied being at home with the kids (which, by the way, your husband also helped to create--but no one's giving him shit, are they?)...then fantastic for you. If you want to venture outside of the family unit to rake in some extra cash (or simply to make a name for yourself), then equally fantastic.

  • I have found that alot of the SAHM's that I know are very nasty when it comes to this topic. There is no alternative in their world and they assume every mom can and should stay home. They actually frighten me!!

  • I wish I would of watched the whole show because from the looks of it, the mother who recorded it, is a working mom and skipped most of the good stuff that backs up a stay at home mom. Ugh I can't believe they're saying kids will learn more from daycares if the kids from some of my relatives who are stuck in daycare are always sick :/ How can they learn if they always got the darn flu. I'm glad Ive been a stay at home mom for my one and only son and cherished everything with him!

  • I'd kill myself if I had to be a baby factory/caretaker for the rest of my life. Forget that!

  • This is really sad because there are mothers out there who think that working mothers are bad parents and if the child is acting up in any sort of way, they use the "well if she wasn't working maybe her kid(s) wouldn't act this way" speech (some w/ passive-aggressive tones others not) It's almost like a way for them to look down on others. The same applies when roles are reversed, it's really pathetic and I've seen happen too many times. Grow up and mind your business!!

  • It's funny that this is even an issue for most upper middle class white families. My mom didn't work because she wanted to get out of the house, she worked because she had to for us to survive. I certainly don't wish she hadn't brought me into the world simply because she didn't have every waking second of every day to devote to me. What people don't realize is that yes, being a SAHM is a full time job, but working AND being a mom is TWO full times jobs.
