We dedicated today to visiting the Bandelier National Park which is northwest of Santa Fe. "The ancestors of modern Pueblo people built thriving communities in the area called Bandelier about 600 years ago. Several thousand Ancestral Pueblo dwellings are found among the pink mesas and sheer-walled canyons. The best-known archeological sites, in Frijoles Canyon near the Visitor Center, were inhabited from the 1100s into the mid-1500s. (http://www.nps.gov/band/)"
In retrospect, at the end of our trip, we'd say this was for sure one of the most unique and undiscovered parks we visited. As a Floridian you never hear about it while we hear about Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon all the time. Bandelier is a really special place and the fact that it was home to a fascinating ancient people group shows that humankind has sensed it's uniqueness for centuries.
