  • Why people always presume an AI would want to exterminate us all?Isn't possible that they develop other ˝fillings˝ who differs from humans'?Wouldn't be possible the AI become pacifist and more rational, especially if they have the knowledge of our past and learn form the mistakes we made?Maybe they would see us as brothers instead as enemies .

  • @Alphabetting

"Humans irrational and enjoy being secular"

Secular = being seperate from god

Lol, believing in a supernatural God is reaallyy... rational.

  • SkyNet goes online Dec 21, 2012. Get ready...

  • @KladionicaCity Humanity is a virus and it needs to be stopped. Of course robots in the future will realize this and they will exterminate humanity to save the Earth or maybe even the Universe.

  • Artificial intelligence will never match the human brain, creativity, thought, problem solving and learning skills. Even if computers get faster than the human brain, they will always need an external imput telling them what to do, they cannot think for themselves.

  • @DocUnsane Ah, sorry I meant seperate.

In no way do I think there is a magic man in the sky.

  • @IceC80 An analogy would be if people had been trying to make a tower to reach the moon instead of learning how gravity works to eventually build a rocket.

Also, I disagree with Michio Kaku on another thing. Although Moor's law will probably plateau and quantum computing might not even be feasible, we have not yet fully explored parallel programming (the new hot field in computing). Also, there are many areas in the computer that could be improved. People forget that $ motivates development.

  • When people talk about AI being equivalent to a cockroach, etc., I think it's kind of silly. The reason that AI is not where we would want it to be is because the approach to obtain it is quite absurd. People are trying to work from the top down (data mining/probabilistic vector math) instead of from the bottom up (understanding how neurons function and replicating the biosystem). Once we get the bottom layer, we'll quickly be able to build reasonable AI.

  • I'm going to try my best to work on this topic :-). I think if we are able to create geniuses instead of relying on the probability that one will crop up every once in a while, then we will be able to solve most problems on Earth. Check out the Blue Brain project :). I think it looks promising...

  • @DocUnsane I prefer Thor because he has a hammer, and Jesus was nailed to the cross....

  • Well I won't be so surprised if the A.I.'s think your stupid and obsolete and if we don't destroy ourselves first, the A.I's probably will.

    :L

    Irony.

  • @KladionicaCity

Humanity is angry at the stuff they don't understand, like the way they shun and ridicule conspiracies theorists, and in the old ages they burned "witches".
