An erg is mounted on WILIS (Watercraft-Inspired Lateral Instability Simulator) to add lateral tippiness to the ergometer training program, simulating the rowing shell. Develops & maintains proprioceptive skills for all ability levels.
@stratocaster032 never used this add so I have no idea how good or bad it is. But Im in University rowing and especially around exam time, you don't always have time to go out on the water. These add ons, while not essential, can help out when getting out on the water isn't an option (I hate those days, Im even having one today!) And I have to say, I like the idea of using it as a diagnostic tool for the specific points of your stroke where your balance is off.
I really hate all of these erg add-ons. The erg is a crosstraining tool for rowing. It exists to meet the physiological demands of the sport, not imitate it completely. These things are a waste of time. Spend the money on equipment for shells...where real boatspeed is made.
