  • Our Earth is like an Island in the Universe, and We're doing the same thing the Easter Islanders did to their island.

  • scary though ><

  • History will repeat itself.

  • @dylanx1012 except we would leave behind TONS of technology and BOOKS. So...it would really be absolutely nothing like easter island, would it?

  • Seems really implausible that they cut them all down...

  • Something is not right. If the island was once filled with trees, and if the islanders had been cutting the trees, then where were the wood crowns? It was at around 1600s that they started cutting trees, I bet at least some percentage of the millions of wood crowns might still be on the ground to this day. There is no way that they can't find signs of root systems in a mere 400 years. If scientists can find pollen in the clay, I don't see why they can't find pieces of root fragments as well.

  • Maybe There was a great fire that could have ruined the whole island?

because you would think that they would have already had boats to begin with?

    What happened to those?

  • WE are doing this same thing to the whole world. Let's stop it, now!! love to everyone

  • Funny. Dutch are among the first people reaching the island. There's a fungus infection, called Dutch elm disease. It is killing almost all the elms in Europe. Couldn't it be a fungus infection that killed all the trees? In such small island the transmission rate would be very high.

  • The reason of what happened in this remote island is just a hidden message to let us know which mankind's fate will be.
