Folk Dancing at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Parma, OH. The Troika, meaning three, is a three person Russian folk dance that involves two girls on either side of one boy. It has three main sections.

  • Well the word troika itself does mean a group of three, and as you can see some of the turns and spins wouldn't really be possible with just two people.

  • Yes they are. This was actually a group that was being taught the troika for the first time, so that might have something to do with it.

  • Isn't the troika supposed to represent the spokes of a wheel turning? Please correct me if I'm wrong :)
