@Songer80: Oh yes, very observant. Yes, they are water hyacinths and yep, they do take up nutrients. I keep some in there to cut down on the amount of light that hits the water, to keep algae down. It's a tradeoff.

Hi Joan, just curious, why do you have water hyacinth in your fish tank? Doesn't it take nutrients away from your plants?
