@silverwolfalpha They sail to Valinor where the Valar gods and Maia lesser gods reside, and While Valinor proper is the part of Aman inside the Pelóri, the "shore of Valinor" where the Elves live is considered a part of Valinor as well. Valinor was once located on Earth but the Valar withdrew to another place out of space and time due to various reasons. Eru the creator is responsible for their creation.

@in2universe He is a descendent of the numenoreans. The most powerful race of men. They became mightier in force even than the elves and had a vast sea empire based on the Island of Numenor given to them by the Valar Gods. They were of a tribe called the Edain who fought bravely with the Elves in the first age and were so blessed with very long life, bodies that never grow weak and frail as they age (they age very well) and have other gifts also. Aragorn is perhaps the last of them.

@jdlaw001 No. Elves make a conscious thought, a decision to become mortal. It is just a symbol of her elven light and immortality and love.

God I wish I could look like Liv Tyler.

okay so i"m a sentimental mushy, but this scene is the best scene of self sacrifice in the entire series!Who else would give up immortality for love than Arwen?!
-
aawww que lindo :) super cool
-
@in2universe because he is a numenorean descendant and because of that he has long life. Aragorn lives to be 210 i believe...

i just learnt that aragorn is 90 years old but looks very young, why is that?

@MarianaPhoenix The brooch Galadriel gave him is never called 'evenstar', but she only gave it to him because Arwen left it with her to give to him. The important thing about it in the book is that it earns him the name Elessar, meaning 'The Elfstone' which it had been foretold that he would be called. And in other works Tolkien hinted that the stone gave healing powers, so Aragorn's ability was increased by the time he entered the Houses of Healing compared to healing Frodo on Weathertop.
So that necklace piece is her immortality?

This can be a symbol of her immortality. When she gave the necklace Aragorn, she ensured him of her devotion. But mayby I'm wrong:)
