  • To print on vinyl sticker, what type of paper on "paper type" should I use? because the ink does not adhere to the material, and I have lost a lot of ink and materials trying to do it.

    Im sorry for the english....

    and thanks for responsing

  • I'm sorry, but I actually don't work there anymore so I can't give you a good answer but I think I remember that the ink used in this printer is dye-based and not pigment-based which would be the best for vinyl.

  • nice vid thanks

  • Leon que quieres aser?? Yo puedo ayudarte

  • @engineerio solvent based ink i like roland versa cams sp300 is 30 inch and i think thay do a vp300 also 30 inch and the vp540 thats 54 inch and i think theirs also a sp 540 (the sp line might be sp 300v or sp 540v )

  • @rhblakeman Can you recommend a vinyl printer, solvent based!?

  • @rickyleon7 If you want interior use stickers then you need what HP calls colorfast adhesive vinyl - very pricey stuff. If you don't have the user manual you can go to HP and under support and drivers look in the left bar for manuals. It lays out all the types to use and regular user maintenance. I know the 500/800 line inside out under the covers from doing repair work on them for the last 15 yrs.

  • @nsrmsm I have an 800PS with the formatter/hard drive and 42" bed. The stand shown here is likely not the correct stand - too short and doesnt have the paper catch that folds out. I have to get behind mine to change paper and I'm 6 ft tall. Would be nice to have it lower then I could put my vinyl cutter on a shelf above it.

  • @rickyleon7 The 500/800 line can use "colorfast adhesive vinyl" but it's not good for outside use due to not being UV resistant. As eagelgregory mentioned if you want exterior use work such as bumper stickers and vehicle wraps and photos for sign work you need a solvent based unit. The 500/800 machines are actually all the same machine (except the parts of different widths on the 24" and 42" models and the HPGL or formatter card in back).

  • This unit can only print on a top coated vinyl specially designed for aqueous (water based dye/ink) printers. Other printers that can print on vinyl are solvent based, meaning the ink is actually a mild acid that eats away at the film. Printing on vinyl with this unit is more expensive than it's worth and the finished product isn't outdoor safe. If it gets wet the ink will run if the print isn't laminated and will only last a couple of months. Hope I helped someone.

  • yeah but, in the specifications of hp DJ 500 tells that, vinil is one of the materials accepted by Hp design jet 500....any way, thanks for the answer. Saludos!
