Welcome to my Dragon Ball Project.

The goal: To watch every iteration of Dragon Ball available in the United States. VHS tapes, Laser Discs, DVD's, Blu-rays, remakes, dubs, subs.

It's a completely mad idea, but I'm going for it. In part 1, I talk a little bit about my history with the show, I give a bit of commentary on the early episodes, and I share some of the frustrations of tracking down the show on tape. Stick with me, it's going to be one helluva a ride.

If you want to join in as I watch the show, I recommend starting with the "Blue Bricks" for the original show. My personal favorite place to get any and all anime is The Right Stuf International. Here are the links to the five seasons of the show that are currently available:

To join me, watch episodes 1-13 of the Dragon Ball dub, also known as the "Saga of Goku".

  • Amen to the bubble mailers! I ordered Dragon Box 4 off of Amazon from another seller. It was supposed to be new. They sent it in a bubble mailer and the corners were all kinds of messed up. It looked like it had been reshrinked wrapped because it was wrapped very poorly. Ever since then I always order from Amazon themselves. Although, it seems unless you get releases as soon as they come out, Amazon will use those dreaded bubblers >.< Glad to know there is someone else out there who understands!

Heh, yeah, gotta watch out for those! I've also taken to ordering direct from Amazon itself when they have a price that beats out RightStuf. The one thing I do like about RightStuf, though, is that it's really rare to get any video in a mailer from them. I've occasionally gotten some merch in mailers, but that's about it.

  • Do the saga sets have episode previews with the subs?

  • @sangofe

Thank you for the offer, but I'm okay for now :).

  • @nesguy I might be able to get the .rm versions of the VHS records. I know I had them before, but I don't really konw where the CDs I burned of them are.

  • @nesguy Okay thanks, Yeah Brian Drummond did a good job. Even Christopher Sabat seemed to sound like Drummond's voice work at first during the Ginyu saga then it changed or matured a bit during the Trunks and Android sagas in my opinion.

  • @TrOyGm

I'll have to double check for you on the Trimark DVD's having the Bandai commercial. Definitely stick with me if you have the Pioneer VHS, because I'm going to be watching that first! I'm actually really looking forward to it. Brian Drummond, the guy who does Vegeta, does an amazing job in my opinion.

  • @TheGreenQuality

That would be awesome! Please drop me a message through YouTube, and we can talk some more about it. I've never actually heard the bluewater dub (that I know of), so this would be an incredible experience. When you say they exist in NTSC, are you referring to a Canadian release, or was there another NTSC region that got them?

  • @nesguy Ocean dub exists in ntsc. but If you dont want to bother I can totally hook you up with The Ocean dub and Bluewater Dub dub for gt. and bluewater had 3 different releases. If you would like I could get them to you.

  • @nesguy Sadly he had taken the tapes with him when he moved again. However I still have what Pioneer VHS of DBZ from back then. I have all DBZ on VHS except the Namek Saga, I own three Pioneer DVD and 1 VHS from that saga. Oh yeah one question, Did the Trimark Dragon Ball DVD set have the Bandai Toy commercial like the VHS set did?? I guess I should check myself, but Im to lazy LOL orz
