In those days the bands didn't own much pa gear. What was there most likely belonged to the house. You can hear that they pulled Roger's mic down as soon as he started working the cymbal with it. Which was something he did at that time. They must have known that. What's really cool here is Keith has no hi hat. His left foot is just goin with nothing to do. Great vid!

@deaddoc I meant the rock mag "Creme." But I really can't recall if it was a written article of a radio interview. I DO remember the INFO. Record companies, etc., would put up with a loss for a while, in touring expenses and equipment was part of that. If the loss became too big, the band was over with, period.

I don't know where claims like this come from. What I remember is an interview with Pete Townsend in the early 70s where he spoke of how Tommy saved the band because they had destroyed so much equipment that they were broke. That might mean that their "tab" with equipment companies was too high, but you'll have to be more convincing claiming that companies "sponsored" them.

@Rikenrocker I read an article in Cream in about 1971 where Pete Townsend was talking about how the band was really in debt and about to fold because of the expense of busting up instruments when they played. "Tommy" saved them.
