@uobkan The way I see it, Mark doesn't save Jade. It's clear that Jade really loves her parents, and that they really love her. She doesn't need "saving" in an Evelyn Lau sense. But she needs to learn how to grow up/ away and make her own choices, as we all do. Mark is just a physical manifestation/ vocalizer of the independence Jade herself increasingly desires over the course of this film. She's triumphantly alone at the end of the film--not in Mark's arms.
