Restless Wind - Willie P. Bennett - Live at Saengerhalle

One of my favourites. Willie talked once about getting the inspiration for the ah-ha-ha-ha chorus from the cantors in the Ukranian church. I was married in the Ukranian Catholic Church and the first time I heard the deep voice singing back at the priest coming from somewhere behind and above the congregation it was a bit disconcerting. This video was shot at the 2005 Fred Eaglesmith Texas Weekend at Saengerhalle in New Braunfels which I understand is not operating as a dance hall anymore.

Willie's web site has been down since shortly after his death. This song appeared on his last released album 1998's Heartstrings for which he won a Juno (the Canadian equivalent of a grammy). I don't see WPB's albums for sale at Fred Eaglesmith's website anymore either, so I don't know the answer other than to search on the internet.

Willie P. Bennett died this morning Feb. 16, 2008.

He will be missed so much.
