So? It's just like some fool to try and make a mountain out of a mole hill. Give me a fkn break. There's not a single racist thing about what he said. You're reaching.

i read about this in the NOT SO GREAT MOMENTS IN SPORTS book butr it is bnot in the video of the same name

OK, then what about all the interviews he did with Foreman, Ali, Smokin Joe, and all the other black athletes. We should have known then that day what would become the PC movement that will overthrow this country. He is one of the 10 people I want to meet in Heaven first aside from Jesus, friends and family
-
Cosell also used the monkey comment in a previous game describing a CAUCASIAN player's break-away run. This was the beginnings of the PC world.

I was watching this game when the comment was made, and NEVER once did I think Howard was being bigoted. The AP did its LEVEL BEST to try and label Cosell as racist for this comment, but like Al Davis, he was CLEARLY a champion of many black athletes, and defended Ali vehemently when he was stripped of his title for refusing induction in the armed services due to his conscientious objector status. The media can really get it WRONG many times, and they did that day !! RIP Howard !!!

@Imakecents I've called my nephew a little monkey plenty of times. No racism intended at all.

Listen to Dandy Don speak after Cosell. He's thinking to himself 'Did Howard really say that?'

its to bad sonny liston is not alive. he would tell you how much of a racist cosell was. of course his liberal buddies let him off the hook. to bad Lanny Watkins was not as fortunate.
Anyone old enough, sportsman enough, and with a brain bigger than a BB, who actually watched and listened to Howard, would know that he was ANYTHING BUT A RACIST. If anything he went overboard to be the opposite. Young people now can't imagine what the world was like when Howard grew up, and they damn sure don't learn anything from their government schools. Many of us that fought against racism in school, sports, the military, and business, have all used descriptive terms, acceptable then....
