SHE FOLDED IT THE WRONG DIRECTION AT THE BEGINING!! totally ruined the pure parts

@Pinkrosen1 I use an exacto knif handle XD and sometimes a fat highlighter marker

@mikozouko I did a skinner blend a few weeks ago by hand and it came out pretty nice. You just have to have patience and try to keep the shape even when you roll it out, like if it starts to get round, fold the edges in to make a square again. I can't remember what I made it for at the moment, or I would show you.

i did the skinner blend without a pasta machine. Turned out perfect! I used a sharpie to roll it out. :D

do you have any videos or know of any videos for more than one color?

Good catch on the 90º shift. Other than that, it was a good demonstration on how to do a Skinner blend. Great camera angle and quality on the video too! There are so many things that the blend can be used for, thanks for showing the basics.

@mikozouko We've never tried to make a Skinner blend without a pasta machine. If you're working with polymer regularly, it's a rather essential tool. You could try to use an acrylic or PVC roller to roll the clay. Make sure you're folding the clay and rolling it in the proper direction, just like you would in the pasta machine. If you try this, let us know if it works!

I appreciate that you showed each and every pass thru the pasta machine. Now I know it's not suppose to be a perfect rectangle like they use to show on the craft shows on TV. I thought I just couldn't do it right. Thanks so much!

You're very welcome. Those time-lapse TV show demonstrations can really give you an inferiority complex, can't they?! I'm happy that our video helped you understand the process even better.

what is it used for?

A Skinner blend is just a way to create a gradient of color in polymer clay. You can then use the thin color sheet on ANYthing!
