@mmbestfriends "This disease is caused by childhood trauma" Where are you getting that information? The fact that two sisters have this shows that their may be a genetic link. Not that they were abused. The chances of getting schizophrenia when a family member has it is 1 in 10. Normal odds are 1 in 100.

I used to have full on halluscinations as a child I told my mother recently she should have taken me to a doctor its not normal. I don't have them now though as an adult so maybe it is ok.

My nephew is in the hospital again. He cut her tire and kicked a dent in her Prius. My poor sister has to stay with my other sister at times. She is afraid of him at times, but loves her 27 yr old son. I wish we could get him forced long term care in Texas. We are one of the worst states to help mental illness. He wants to end it all. He says it's hell. Any ideas?

Schizophrenia is a mental illness just like any other. It's not necessarily caused by this or that, it just comes without warning. It's a very sad and challenging illness for people to live with but so long as they take their medication as prescribed and seek professional help then they are usually perfectly fine and safe to live a normal and healthy life. They shouldn't be a threat to themselves or anyone else. If anyone thinks they might be, they should not be around children or sharp objects!

@bubblebath88 lol I have always found it disturbing that I was having them as a kid but I never acted out like this. I also find it disturbing that no one took me to a doctor or something its really wierd. I have a wierd family lol.

Unfortunately Psychiatry doesn't know what schizophrenia is or what is going on or what to do about it except give chemicals for it because they say it's a 'brain disorder or chemical imbalance'. Neither of which are provable and have never been proven. Research 'placebo effect' regarding psychiatric drugs. Too people simply parrot what Psychiatry tells them they 'have'. Voices and hallucinations can be real to a person. You have to understand the mind, and it ain't psychiatry.
