I'm of the opinion that one of the main reasons that the media pushed this issue because the religious right would donate a lot of money to corporations who control the media as something to distract the public and the law about their preachers and priests laying next to small boys.

Also, I remember seeing on Oprah ( a show I didn't normally watch ) But she had a show on back in the early 80"s with people claiming to be satanist and claiming they sacrificed babies and ate their flesh and drank their blood and were forced into orgies. Many people started making these false claims. What is pathetic is that, to this day there are STILL many people who actually believe that this is what satanist do. Despite the F.B.I. proving that all these claims were unfounded.

I remember the satanic panic. I had always loved rock music and my parents never had a problem with it until evangelicals and fundamentalist came to our house to preach to us that all rock music is satanic and my parents destroyed a bunch of my albums. I remember how much I really despised these christians for that and I despised my own parents for destroying my music, BUT I didn't stop listening to rock. I just started recording rock music on cassette tapes from the rock station after that.

I know some agents and hes right for the most part.
