The Augusta 109E Power Helicopter is the main player in the air ambulance team.
It's the fastest civilan helicopter available in the UK and has been specially adapted to carry the pilot, paramedic, doctor and most importantly the patient.
With a top speed of nearly 200 MPH, anywhere within the catchment area can be reached in under 20 minutes.
Captain Jeff James is one of a team of pilots who regularly fly Helimed 53.
He said: "It's a fully digital programmed engine which means that we can be airborne is just 45 seconds which is faster than normal."
The speed of the aircraft means that transfer of patients to the most appropriate acute hospital is easier and that patients get the most appropriate level of care.
Dr Stuart Maitland-Knibb is an RAF doctor on secondment to the air ambulance service one day a week.
This benefits the service as he is paid for by the RAF and his skills are available to them.
@2834CSKAC It is no different to the one shown in the video which is the WNAA. they are the same Aircraft and use the same pool of crew.
