How to use a line holder for tenkara.
Tenkara is the Japanese method of mountain stream fly fishing.
Only a rod, line and fly are use, the line holder makes it easy to manage and store the lines.

  • Daniel,

I'm curious. Why do you recommend not spinning the spool? It seems that winding the line around the spool creates more line twist while spinning the spool would avoid line twist. Is it to avoid tangles or something?

  • @jasonklass It's too much work. I have found it to be much quicker to wind the line around the spool as you keep the spool still. Many times I have seen people spinning the spool, but it takes forever.

  • As much as possible I'd recommend not plugging the rod with the line still attached. Essentially the line holder helps keep the line all in place and reduces the need to plug it. But, if you really feel the need you can plug it.

  • Do you recommend plugging the rod with the line still attached or do you feel this would crimp the line too much?
