First saw the VPs 13.1.82 at The Warehouse, Liverpool with my pal Mark. Gavin marches on stage to the sound of one person applauding (me - i was brought up polite) stares out the sparse crowd of scousers and says "Yesterday is Tomorrow only backwards - like a crazy singer in a band that's lost the words."
It is hard to capture the sheer visceral shock of seeing their act live. But, in that 90 minutes, we were converted.
Mind you, they scared the BeJaysus outta me.
