Regarding high level White House meetings where the Bush administration's "Enhanced Interrogation (aka illegal torture) Program" was not just discussed, but actually orchestrated in detail, the Pretender-in-Chief said the following last Friday (4/11/08):

"And yes, I'm aware our national security team met on this issue. And I approved."

He also said:
"I told the country we did that. And I also told them it was legal. We had legal opinions that enabled us to do it."

Boy, wouldn't it be nice if us common folk could skirt the law by simply getting a lawyer friend to give us a "legal opinion" that said we could do whatever the hell we wanted?

NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW. NOT EVEN THE PRESIDENT.

Call your reps and DEMAND impeachment. Call the Capitol switchboard:
202-224-3121

Ask to be connected to your rep's office. If you don't know who your reps are, just tell the operator where you live and they will connect you.

Tell your reps THEY HAVE NO CHOICE. The President of the United States has publicly admitted to signing off on torture, which is specifically prohibited by the Constitution (8th Amendment) that he swore to preserve, protect and defend.

They MUST impeach and remove these criminals. Unless, of course, they have no problem being seen for the rest of history as willing enablers of tyranny.

And be sure to check out the series of articles at Daily Kos about detainee deaths in U.S. custody:

  • thank you so much for this earth-shattering, completely one-dimensional analysis of a time in our history that is much more complicated than the case of one particular person who was supposedly tortured to death by the United States.

  • You need to give up the lame apologist "oh it's so complicated" crap. It just makes you look foolish. There is no "supposedly" about it. The guy is dead. The conclusion of the autoposy report is homicide. Search YT for "Confirmation of Detainee Murders" (a video I posted). Listen to the audio of the 6/18/08 hearing where Lawrence Wilkerson confirms to Jerrold Nadler that at least 25 of approximately 100 detainee deaths (at that point) had been classified as homicides. And wake the hell up.

  • that's not being apologist...it's acknowledging reality. if you think that everything is very simple and boils down to some torture cases, i think it's you who looks foolish. there has never been and never will be a war when people aren't tortured for information. nobody likes the fact that it happens, but some people understand that it isn't everyday policy and that instances like the ones you cite are the exception to the rule. wake the hell up to what? i'd like to know your conclusion.

  • Here's what it boils down to, genius: Torture is illegal. And if we do it, we have no claim against it when others do it to us. Also: Any seasoned interrogator that isn't bought and paid for will tell you that torture does not produce reliable information. Obeying the law may seem like a silly notion to simpletons like you, but some of us actually care that crimes are being committed in our name and with our tax dollars. Making excuses for what you know is illegal makes you an apologist.

  • i'm not sure there is room for my replies and your ego on this page. i love how people of your mindset (america is evil, bush is satan, we owe the world apologies) are always arrogant with smartest-guy-in-the-room attitudes. to think Democrats refer to themselves as the "party of tolerance". thank you so much for sparing a few crumbs from your table with a simpleton like me. i only hope to one day be as enlightened as you.

  • Typical partisan schtick. Ignore all the ugly facts, crank up the personal attack, completely misrepresent the other person's comments ("evil", "satan", "apologies"), and make blanket assumptions that prove you have no clue (I am not a democrat and never have been, as has been explained on my YT channel since the day I put it up). Here's what I have no tolerance for: All the ignorant partisan tools like you who represent such a major part of the problem in this country. Way to go, Einstein.

  • I'm really having an out of body experience. Somebody in a high position in my government, who also has facial expressions resembling a monkey, once said that war is peace. How is that so? Do better torture techniques mean better protection for Americans? This is insane, this country is going mad and that crooked ass MSM would have us believe that flag pins are the most important issue of our day. PLEASE, someone pinch me, I must be experiencing a nightmare.

  • And you people think that voting on a delegate system will change what is happening? Do you think that they will change the (non federal) federal reserve system of printing money and charging Americans interests? Do you think that the new laws which allows the Gov. to invade your home, arrest you, not charge you with anything, not let you face your accuser, not give you access to legal representaion is just in America? Wake up peopel and arm yourselves.
