  • ok, for some reason (i'm guessin it's the idiot who is attempting to use the software :) The only choices I have for brushes are selection or mask. Where do I get a normal brush so that I can use this technique....I'm sure it's probably something stupid I'm missing. Thanks so much!

  • Can you take a screen shot of your program and e-mail it to me?

Thanks for watching and you will be just fine.

  • Thank you with your help with photoshop. I am interested in getting a new desktop. What do I need to look for? Monitors, storage, speed, ect.. It will be used mostly for photoshop programs. I have purchased cs3 and I'm waiting for Lightroom 2. Thank you , Rebecca

  • I would first and always suggest a new IMac, you will pay a little more up front but for the speed and performance using photoshop it is worth the cost. My second if you want a windows computer is to buy DELL. Their service and support is only second to Apple, who is number 1. Hope this helps.

As for storage, buy as much as you can afford and make sure you buy your new computer with 2 GIG ram.

Good luck and thanks for the comments.

  • Great video. I have a problem when I use the brush. It does not lighten the picture. The layers are the same as the video. Do I not have the settings right? I used a large brush, normal mode and opacity at 100.

    Thanks!

  • You may need to do a screen shot of you elements and e-mail it to me. It maybe that you did not set your adjustment layer to Black. Keep playing around and don't give up.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Thanks a whole lot for sharing these tutorials....very helpful.

  • Not necessarily. You would then lighten the entire bottom half instead of just the selected area.

  • In this video he forgot to tell you that he is using a white brush. Then if you make a mistake and colored an area too much you use black to bring back the original photo.

  • Thank you For making it easy to understand, I"M a late bloomer when it comes to PhotoShop Elements and I have learned a great deal from your video's.

  • i dont know where i'd be without your tutorials. thanks

  • Thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful . I was wondering if you have any tips on bringing out the colors in pictures. I see amazing photographs with vibrant colors (they must be photoshopped), and wanted some tips on how to get that effect.

  • When we were using film by applying split ND filter we would have shot this scene so that the entire area will be well lit. In the digital world using a gradient will fix this better than your method. Click the b&w circle and go to gradient and click on the third area which shows split black and white. When you open it reverse the gradient so that the darker area is on the top and the lighter on the bottom. Vary the opacity to make finer adjustments. This is a better solution.

  • I have the same problem. It does not lighten the picture. I notice on your video that when you use the brush a white area appears on the black where the brush has been. This does not happen when I do it. I do exactly what you say to do and it does not work. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Thanks so much--your videos are sooooo helpful!

  • Hi Jack, I have elements 6.0, I did not know that I could do this with it. I've only had it for about a month. Thanks, now I'm going to try it.
