  • he just contradicted himself within 10 seconds.... the bolts on the side hold the stem to the steerer tube.. the bolt on top is the adjusts the compression on the bearings...

  • is there any way of putting it higher ?

  • This video is why I love my cannondale mountain bike. No adjusting of the headset and the headset is just a cartridge bearing pressed into a cup at the top and bottom of the head tube, no star nut or spacers and never needs adjusting.

  • you would have to get difffrent forks if you want it alot lower otherwise there wont be enough spacers in the headset to make it snug

  • Yes that's true.

  • I asked a guy at a local bike shop, and he said that I would have to re stack the spacers on top of the stem. Is that true?

  • Yes there is a way. This video doesn't really show you how but if you look closely to the headset, you can see how there are little spacers. What you need to do is to remove the stem and remove some spacers then throw back the stem on adjusting it precisely.

If you still don't understand drop me a message and I can be more specific.

  • Is there any wat to put the headset down closer to the frame to achieve a more aggressive riding positon? I bought a Trek 1.2 (same colors as in the video) and I noticed on the higher end models, like madones, the more you pay the lower your hands are in relation to your hips. The 1.2 has a very relaxed position, and i have found that the seat is almost even with the top of the handlebars.
