You know, I'd like the people who tell me that communism looks good in theory but was subject to abuses and failures in practice to tell me why the exact same things can't be said about capitalism. Capitalism isn't magic, it has no inherent governing principles that prevent abuses. The Invisible Hand and supply and demand and all that bullshit, even if it worked in the past, isn't working now.

Claire and everybody listening. The Presidential SYSTEM is the problem. I'll refrain from more SHOUTING. It isn't that Claire couldn't become President. She could and I think SHOULD. But that these days it is an impossibility. It cost much too much. Like Seinfeld, etc, the bigger the eeconomy the larger the audience, the more they get paid. So it COSTS to get elected. But, a Parliamentary SYSTEM short circuits that. Prime Minister gets elected into a seat in parliament, and that costs little.

@WildwoodClaire1 You are 100% correct...He does value people by there net worth just many on the Right do. The really SAD part is talk radio & FOX "News" have convinced many folks, mostly in the poor south, to vote against their own economic well being! SAD! I saw Romney claim that his recent income was not much as he was only getting paid speaking fees...It turns out those speaking fees he said "were not much" was nearly $400,000 a speech! Basically $400,000 an hour!

@jaymthegenius Funny you mention that. One of my sons, very high SAT & ACT, A++ average, took only the most appropriate (and hardest) honors classes, speaks a foreign language (his native), is a member of an official "minority" group, is an advanced musician, did community work, graduated with honors, graduated early and more blah de blah blah. And yet he was turned down at 2 state universities? They didn't give a reason. It really bothers us. You don't work in admissions do you?

The Democrats are going to have a ball with Mitt in the coming election. Some issues are gonig to come out and get a really good going-over in a way that hasn't happened, yet, and may never have happened without Mitt's arrogance.

@WildwoodClaire1 Hi Claire, what's your solution to that employee=equipment problem? It's not just an idea, right now employees are equipment. How does it become in a business' interest to show loyalty to employees?
I worked for a company for 29 years. It was bought and my divisions was dismantled. They asked me to finish up work on the last contracts and then they had a job for me in California. I did the jobs and finished but then was told "we hired people in California. Makes no sense keep you now". GRRRRRR After I started taking some courses at KSU they called me to go work for them again. Well, it was my pleasure to tell them where to go that time. hehehehe

@foxlake02 The pervasive idea that employees are merely equipment is, I think, one of the reasons for America's decline.

Romney will gut all the social safety nets in this country just to give the rich additional tax breaks! WE CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN!!
OBAMA 2012!

@Viracocha711 That's because Mitt bases his valuation of individual human beings, and their worth to society, solely on the size of their bank accounts.
