you use your computer's processors to help them understanding protein folding.
protein folding is related to deseases (read website)
everyone is a volunteer

Look up Folding@home on Wikipedia

Thank you; it illustrates the importance of deciphering these infectious proteins!

@cptpnshmnt look up 'Prions' on wikipedia

I have 4 480 GPUs and a 980X, I did a shit ton of folding one night...

I just checked. 51 WU's and a "score" of 8402. Not bad for one little 4 yr old laptop. (I did recently double my RAM from 1G to 2G, but don't know if it helped a lot)

@ConstantC4 I am about to wind down for the summer as well. My electric bill was pretty high last month. I have more than a few energy-dependent pets and between them and the 100 days of 100ºF or above that Phoenix gets, my AC runs too much as it is, so I will not fold as much til the summer is over. I'll feel guilty about not folding though. LOL

how do i use it folding home is not very user friendly on PC

well I think I have about 200 wus now with my new computer.
I don't fold in the summer a lot though since it heats my room by like 5-10 degrees.
I just started Folding@Home. Can someone clarify a phrase in this video? Vijay is mentioning the misfolding of proteins. He says: "then once misfolded, become '_______'."
Once misfolded, they become "what"? I can't make out the word he says there. It's at :34.

Then once misfolded, they become TOXIC. It's the magic word.
