The video presents animated maps of the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) Ocean Heat Content (OHC) data from 1990 to 2010. The data in each map has been "smoothed" with a 12-month filter to minimize noise and any seasonal component.

  • GlobalAnanda: Didn't you notice? All of that nasty cold water was replaced with warm water by ENSO, redistributing heat from the tropics, and by changes in sea level pressure allowing all of the lovely warm water created by ENSO to migrate poleward, melting all that nasty cold ice.

  • Nice animation!!

Actually they do know some of the heat is going to depth.

See "Warming of Global Abyssal and Deep Southern Ocean Waters between the 1990s and 2000s: Contributions to Global Heat and Sea Level Rise Budgets", Purkey, Johnson, 2010.

  • Where has all the blue and purple cold water gone in the past 13-15 years?????

Thankyou Bob great stuff, keep posting :)
