@robertsmoser007 exactly what Navy would the UN use to control 70% of the planet? The treaty doesn't do anything more than US law already has us doing, all it does is make other nations play by the same rules, but we will still have the largest Navy the world has ever known. Article III Section II gives the SCOTUS authority over Treaties the US is signed onto, the GOP just has a problem with the rule of Law. Its a treaty not a constitutional amendment.
Fact: The UN has NO role under the LOS Treaty and nobody, UN or otherwise, would "control" 70 percent of the planet. That's a simple lie from folks like Phyllis Schlaffly. US accession to this treaty, now in force and universally accepted worldwide is supported by the Bush Admin, the Joint Chiefs, all living former CNOs, the Amer. Petroleum Inst., the Sen. For. Rel. Committee, etc., etc. Wake up, folks. Some of you are being had by a (failing) Far Right disinformation campaign.
This detestable treaty would allow the UN to control 70 percent of the planet. Soon, U.N. bureaucrats could be dictating what the U.S. government and American companies will be permitted to do on, in and under the oceans.
@robertsmoser007
Ronald Reagan killed that treaty for good reason.
