createurope: THE FASHION DESIGN AWARD Showroom Opening

The Monomaniac exhibition by Ulrik Martin Larsen opened the createurope showroom Creative Lab at the end of May this year. Larsen was a finalist in last years createurope: THE FASHION DESIGN AWARD. Monomaniac is the title of his current collection, in which he has created wearable fashion from everyday materials
such as plastic and wood. The exhibition also presented installations and boutique pieces from the Danish design agency Surplus Wonder with their collection Boutique L.U.I.S. Sticks of Happiness. The createurope showroom is situated on Revaler Strasse in Friedrichshain, Berlin and is available for the finalists of last years competition to use as an atelier and workspace. Through the young designers it can be used as an interactive platform for project-orientated temporary exhibitions, activities and events.

During 2009 the following artists and designers will work in the createurope: Creative Lab and curate their own exhibitions:

The competition createurope: THE FASHION DESIGN AWARD was created at the beginning of 2008 as a Goethe Institute initiative and a project of Eunic, the Association of European Cultural Institutes in Berlin and with Quelle GmbH as its primary sponsor. The award is aimed at young designers and its aim is to sustainably develop the
creative scene in Europe and further afield and to encourage communication within the young fashion world.

createurope: THE FASHION DESIGN AWARD feierte Ende Mai dieses Jahres mit der Ausstellung Monomaniac von Ulrik Martin Larsen, dem dänischen Wettbewerbs-Finalisten von 2008, die Eröffnung des createurope-Showrooms | Creative Lab. Monomaniac betitelt Larsens aktuelle Kollektion, in der er aus Alltags-
Materialien wie Plastik oder Holz tragbare Mode schafft. Die dänische Design- Agentur Surplus Wonder ergänzte mit der „Boutique L.U.I.S. Sticks of Happiness, einer Mischung aus Installation und Boutique, die Ausstellung.

Der im Revaler-Viereck von Berlin-Friedrichshain gelegene createurope Showroom steht seither ausgewählten createurope Vorjahres-Finalisten als Atelier und Workspace zur Verfügung und soll ebenso als interaktive Plattform für projektbezogene, temporäre Ausstellungen, Aktionen und Events dienen.

2009 arbeiten folgende ausgewählte Künstler und Designer im createurope: Creative
Lab um ihre persönliche Ausstellungen zu kuratieren:

Der Wettbewerb createurope: THE FASHION DESIGN AWARD wurde Anfang 2008 auf Initiative des Goethe-Instituts als Projekt von EUNIC, der Gemeinschaft der europäischen Kulturinstitute in Berlin
und mit der Quelle GmbH als Hauptsponsor ins Leben gerufen. Der Preis richtet sich an NachwuchsdesignerInnen sowie an
internationale Modeschulen und hat zum Ziel, die Kreativszene europaweit nachhaltig zu fördern und zu vernetzen.
