(Cont'd) At the Wilson Museum marionette show, I think I "got it" on maybe half the jokes. (I was too young to get the joke about John Hancock being an "insurance man.") But in the George Washington/Betsy Ross sketch, I did laugh at Washington wanting polka dots on the flag instead of stars.
I think most of the kids there enjoyed the show because it was zany. I don't know who performed the marionettes at the show, but I seem to remember they did a good job of it.
Actually, it has been put on a CD. Capitol reissued it with additional material that had been cut from the LP due to time limitations, including a skit about Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin and his kite, and extra material excised from "Betsy Ross and the Flag (Everybody Wants To Be An Art Director)"; it was subsequently reissued again a few years later by Rhino when they released Vol. 2, The Later Years.
"That's George, talking up a storm with those wooden teeth" :D
