This is the monorail from the long term parking garage to the terminal. There are six stations - four in the garage and two at the terminal. It is a Bombardier UM-III system, similar to the system in Jacksonville but with single cars instead of two car sets. This system runs entirely indoors, on the fifth floor of the garage. Shot with a Nikon Coolpix on a crappy tripod. Sorry for the lousy sound quality.

  • wow when did they put that monorail in i always go on the ones that cross the Airport Road outside...

  • I opened in '91. It only connects the long term garage with the terminal. You still need to take the people movers from the terminal to the airsides.

  • @anomalousclouds i finally rode it last week :)

  • It's kinda small to be at Tampa.

  • it sounds like a rocket blasting off :), oh and i also didnt mean it was ugly in a bad way... sort of like saying the detrion smith terminal was ugly ...that way

  • @goldenconnectionTV Haha, it does kind of look like the one at EWR, although I think Tampa's is much cooler. The size and speed of Tampa's monorail totally suit it's purpose, and the enclosed system with the raw concrete juxtaposed by deco glass is a cool, unique look. Newark/EWR really needs a proper heavy rail shuttle between it's terminals and the NJT/Amtrak station. Covering that amount of ground in something so dinky and slow makes me feel like I'm on a zoo monorail.

  • I always thought this thing was such a hidden gem for those of us who enjoy metro/subway systems... of which there are obviously none in that region, not counting the streetcars. My friend and I used it as the subject of a photography project in high school about 10 years ago... I wish I could find the pictures. I take it there's new monorails on it now from the comments? It'll be cool to check them out when I visit next time.

  • @SAMMYJS99 I would have loved to have done that!

  • OH I LUV THIS I ALWAYS TAKE IT

  • There are eight stations, not six.

  • I have seen it go by when we got off at the wrong floor in the parking garage it's kind of ugly , just like the one in newark.

  • TPA is by far the best airport in the country!!
