Most people will beat me with a stick and then some for saying this, but I can't imagine a more predictable soloist than Tony Rice. Same licks over and over, in every single song. I like him best as a rhythm player. Listen to the Tone Poems album with David Grisman and hear what an amazing rhythm player he is.

A rare gem -- I love to hear these guys live because they are so much looser than in the studio.

@bardicsinger Some people get really into it. Myself included.

Either Sam really puts a lot of his body into his playing, or the mandolin is just a harder instrument to play.

Tony's use of his signature G,C,D transition lick when winding out the last bit of the chorus rhythm is the same one he uses in Salt Creek. Easily mistaken if not for the difference in key.

This would be Paddy on the Turnpike, Salt Creek is in A this is in G, the tunes are somewhat alike.

Are they even playing a specific tune?

Many thanks for putting this up. Some of my favorite musicians of all time on this song.
