Mark Ortiz's Touring Bicycle

This is my third touring bicycle. Some parts are off of my first two touring bikes, both of which succumbed to crash damage.

I've been riding bikes of this general nature since 1996, after starting serious cycling on road racing bikes in 1965 at the age of 15. Since I started using bikes that can haul a load, my annual mileage has increased dramatically. I estimate my lifetime miles so far at about 135,000, and at least half of those have come since 1996.

One errata item: I refer to 9-speed freewheel. My age is showing. It's a 9-speed SRAM cassette on a Shimano freehub.

what kind of fork to you use? beautiful bike....keep on truckin

@jdavers17 The fork is from Nashbar, like the frame. It has carbon fiber legs, with aluminum crown and steerer. I painted it. To attach the rack, I had to make my own adaptors to clamp to the fork legs. These use rubber-cushioned clamps made from Adel-style aircraft/race car cushioned tubing clamps. The rack itself had to have the vertical tubes bent and crimped, and shortened a bit, followed by repainting.

One reason for making a video of ones bicycle is that it can be shown to the police in case the bike gets stolen. To make this video a little more useful that way, I think I'll add the serial number. It's NB1008184. It's on the underside of the bottom bracket.
