The main problem was that Spector usually produced singers backed by his choice of studio musicians, but with the Ramones he had to produce a self-contained band.

Spector didn't pretend that musicians were anything more than tools to help him achieve his artistic vision. He deliberately wore down musicians with multiple takes in order to get them to play his music instead of their own. His results speak for themeselves; almost every production was a masterpiece. Spector made artistically coherent recordings, not just tapes of the noise that the latest group of musicians made. His attitude was that musicians come and go but that recordings are forever.

Was this interview around the same time Joey and Johnny had their fall out with each other? Joey looks dead serious and bottled up while johnny seems like he is thinking of two things at the same time and feeling some guilt. Marky seems sort of like "I told you so, Joey is pissed" while Dee Dee is just holding the group together.
