Depending who the pilot was,the Spit was the better plane.The early BF109 Emils had a cannon in each wing and 2 MG's firing thru the prop.The Spit1 had 3 303's in each wing.It used carbs and suffered problems with the engine stalling out.The Emils had fuel injection and would simlply dive away if they got in trouble.When the Spit V's came out,they held the upper hand,until the Germans placed the Fw 190's into the mix.In my opinion the later modeled Spits were the best pure dog fighters in WWII.

@endgamer617 But the ME 109 had a nose cannon and had room for 56 seconds (round about) of firing time the spit fire only had enough rounds for 30 seconds (round about) rounds of firing. Good Film.

@thebritishww2man Actually no. The spitfire could pull tighter turns, the me109 was faster.

The spitfire wouldent have got that close to the 109 because the 109 could do tighter turns than the spitfire.(I'm not for the Germans but just thought I'd mension it.)
