Medical system galvanic isolation requirements are far more stringent than in most other applications. The need for these tougher requirements is obvious: data corruption can cause malfunctions with potentially catastrophic results. For instance data corruption from electromagnetic interference can interrupt life support system operation, or alter the data of a patient being monitored, or perhaps change intravenous medicine dosage levels dispensed from an infusion pump. Silicon Labs' comprehensive Si86xx family of digital isolators are ideal for use in medical electronics applications. Find out more at www.silabs.com/isolation.
