McCarthy a fascist? Fascists are socialists. He was very much pro capitalism.

Zach Thompson - if McCarthy was as bad as you say he was why don't you name a single person he falsely investigated, just 1! You can't. Every single person he named publicly or identified in private Senate subcommittee hearings was already ID's by some official government source as a Communist, subversive, or security risk. He never made anything up. He had solid evidence.

You dont happen to have Nixon as your surname do you? To sit here and defend McCarthy there is something seriously wrong with that my friend. I can think of few people that have done more to drag American Democracy through the dirt than this man. I have here in my pocket a list of subversive organizations you have been a member of. Mfagen Sutek - you just made reckless charges against McCarthy on order to smear him. Not 1 person you listed was formally investigated by McCarthy, not 1! He did not say the entire US Army was anything (Communist, treasonous, etc.). He investigated the lax security practices at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey. I repeat my challenge, name 1 person falsely investigated by McCarthy, just 1! Every single person he investigated was named by some official government entity as a security risk, etc.

The US Army, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, President Harry S. Truman, Millard Tydings, Senator (D-MD), and Margaret Chase Smith, Senator (R-ME) to name a few. He was a villain in every sense of the word, and history has left him to rot in opprobrium.
