  • McCarthy looks utterly defeated at the end. He knows the jig is up, and so does Cohn.

  • Fucking owned!

  • The best part is the look on Cohn's face for the entire section after Welch finishes his "have you left no decency" part. He clearly knows just how badly his boss just got schooled, he's squirming in his seat, and you can see him shake his head and look disgusted when McCarthy keeps trying to hammer away at the Fisher thing... even HE knows just how fucked up McCarthy's tactic is.

  • @InsubordinateFilmz Right, I don't really have time to focus on your exact wording; whereas you may believe you deserve to be quoted faithfully, my only intent here is to uphhold your ridiculousness. I have done so.

Apparent violations are incredibly regular, like the Mohammed cartoons controversy in modern times, for example. Racists are regularly excluded from government employment. The question is. how grand and how necessary?

You are wrong and its obvious.

  • It happened because McCarthy brought up the "fact" that Welch's aide, Fred Fisher, belonged to the "Lawyer's Guild", which was supposedly Communist-infiltrated. He assured Welch, before the hearings, that Fisher's name or situation would not be brought up. But on June 9th, when it looked like the outcome of the hearings would NOT turn out in his favor, he desparately played his "trump card" by bringing up Fisher (and to discredit Welch at the same time). That gambit cost him everything....

  • The Catholic poster boy of the Kennedy family got owned! LOL

  • @countertreason

    a) I actually never said huge, I used the word severe, so if you wish to quote me at least be accurate.

    b) You are now arguing the semantics of exactly how much they violated the first amendment. I think your argument has fallen apart. Adios.

  • @InsubordinateFilmz Sorry, where was the 'huge' infringement. People have given me ample evidence of mild, rather inconsequential infringements, but absolutely no 'huge' infringements. After all, if, say, employment being restricted to those who have no communist history is a 'huge' infringement, then what is imprisonment, execution or extra-judicial murder?

It could very well have been unjustified or wrong. I for one believe that is debatable. But 'huge', not even close.

  • I love the applause for Welch at the end and McCarthy's sour face during said applause! Talk about the Salem Witch Trials!!!

  • @JohnGift1 Very well put...agreed 100%...

  • @1003vjesse *an, I do agree fear was there but was manipulated for his own affluence.

  • I don't know if "prone" is entirely accurate, but rather exploited for his benefit to en extent; to be in the limelight and gain notoriety as a junior senator. Didn't you research how he enjoyed the media's attention, fame/recognition, along with the nightlife throughout his communists accusations? ALSO, IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE ELLIPSIS (WHICH SHOULDN'T BE OFTEN IN A COMMENTARY) YOU USE ONLY (3) "..." NOT ANY MORE THAN THAT.
