@IrisMaeConn Ya the horses I'm used to ride all have a short mane (doesn't get stuck in the hands and reins and easier to groom or braid) I'll try that technique next time, looks really quick ^^

@Horsepassion4life the mane has been pulled really short so it is very quick to plait and then tie

I've never used that technique! I'm using a needle and some coton wire... It stays in place for a long time and it's really tight, but it takes way much time that that!

@radcracker7 Hi, the instrument she's using is a crochet hook, you can get it at Wallmart or any store where they sell sewing materials.
