The day didn't start good. Reversed out the drive and snap, the offside front spring snaps just a few months after the near side front. Fortunately I had a couple of companions I was walking with and they came out of their way to pick me up, very grateful guys, thank you.
Today I had planned to do a hill I have been climbing for almost 20 years but from a new approach. The skies were clear but the wind was cold as it has been for the last week.
We followed a metalled road of a few kilometres which eventually turned to a muddy track which was to be the theme for most of the day. I regret not wearing my gaiters and my walking poles where in my car, I dearly missed them.
The true summit to the hill was reached first then we went the the large cairn on the northern end and despite being only half a kilometre away it took us more than 20 mins due to the conditions underfoot, mostly heather and moss with some rock but very wet trails.
We had lunch inside the cairn and layered up but despite this we were still very chilly, the wind was relentless.
We returned the way we came and spend about 5.5 hours on in the hills, another great hike complete.
