Jaw Grind

Jaw Grind is Allison Jones's senior project from Purchase College, SUNY, which was subsequently invited to be performed at Dance Theater Workshop (College Partnership Program) and presented at the American Dance Guild Festival.

A group work for 8-9 dancers, Jaw Grind explores the subject of panic attacks and breakdowns amid a monotonous existence. The dancers teeter on the edge of being put together vs. falling apart, wearing high-fashion hairstyles and dramatic false eyelashes juxtaposed with tattered clothes. Simultaneously edgy, energetic, strange and glamorous, Jaw Grind toes a fine line between earnest concert work and dynamic crowd-pleaser.
