Waddada has been playing Miles's music for years... he GOT IT... and he is the best one left now IMO now Miles, Lester Bowie and DonCherry have gone. The only Miles stuff you can diss is the comeback stuff IMO.

What about a music lover? Do they know more or less than a "REAL JAZZ" musican? Wynton M has "great technique"... so what? By that reckoning P Newborn would be better than Monk, J Griffin better than L Young.
To paraphrase the great CLR James "How little they know of jazz who only Jazz know!"

And that's no dosrespect to Don Cherry either I'm sure many had better technique than him but he was still a GREAT player as well.

And by the way I've never read the Rolling Stone OR that People magazine, whatever that is!

For those few people here who don't understand Miles' playing and music, watch the Sonny Rollins meets Miles Davis youTube. Maybe you just need to hear it in Mr. Rollins' words. I think if you don't "get" Miles' music, perhaps you don't understand nuance.

- although well-respected, don cherry was still underratred - as this piece shows - more like a human voice expressing, than blinding technique exhibited by too many in jazz idiom today -thanks.....

I love to listen to Don Cherry. He plays as well with Rollins as he did with Ornette. A great talking musician.
