The looks of these cars [5 door hatch, 3 door hatch (coupe), estate (station wagon) & Coupe - Convatible (Cabriolet) (Twin Top)] are very lovely. But Holden should have included an AH sedan from Opel as well.
i've got an Astra. 06 CD model. im 17, and oh my god i love that thing. its just brilliant. little pocket rocket, great practicality, costs fuck all to maintain and looks pretty sick. i just got the windows tinted, thinking of some nice rims.
prefer the 2001-05 astra style. Seen one with a massive cannon drive past dumped on 17in white rims, the car was white with tinted tail lights and tinted windows. simplepimpin
um what a lot of shit i have just read!!! i have one and havent had any trouble with it and this model has been out for 3 years if holden was losing money they wouldnt have brought the upgrade a few months back!!!! or have added the sri 4 door hatch u wankers dont know what ur talking about!!!
I think Astra's look very pretty but they suck at driving, especially the hot hatch (Vauxall Astra VXR/Opel Astra OPC) They have to mutch understeer and torque steer. I'd prefer the Ford Focus ST whitch has a slightly lower top speed but a mutch better handling and easyer to drive and if you look at old Fords and Opels, Fords are mutch more reliable.
A nice car indeed.Only thing that put me off buying one of these was I did not want people to think oh is that your Aunties BMW or Mothers Mercedes at work.
Ah, but if you read most industry analyst reports, they are forecasting a very short life for the Saturn Astra, too, despite it being a good car.
So long as the Euro continues to climb in value against most major currencies and coupled to the high cost of labour in most of Europe, the futre looks pretty limited for the Astra as an export case. Sad.
Ok, then why did they just start selling the Astra in the US as a Saturn? They come from exactly the same factory in Belgium as our Astras. The American dollar isn't doing to well at the moment and prices start at USD$16495, which is roughly AUD$18144. Yes Americans get cars for a lot cheaper than Australia, but surely Saturn would be selling Astras at a much greater loss.
No TwinTop in US market :-(
