Why do all Atheist's feel the need to criticize everyone else's religion? I also noticed you felt the need to criticize the fact that the communities raise money in order to help members of their community and their religion, knowing that they funded a hypocritical jackass's free ride to Israel/Vacation.

Personally, I find it disgusting when a person expects a "community" to support them (regardless of their religion, philosophy, social outlo0k, or whatnot). But I don't see Jews as either "commy" sycophants or "greedy capitalists." Not that I'm suggesting that's what you're implying, but that's what Neo-Nazis say about them. As a Christian Zionist, myself, I despise the defeatist philosophy of "self-hating" Jews.

As a follow up; AFAUK is not very far at all on this particular topic. Since when did funerals gain constituencies? does the amount of people present to mourn the passing of a person really determine how valuable they were? have you been to many non-explicitly religious funerals? more importantly, where does your data supporting the absurd claim come from?(re:"only the religious have community") and do you really want to open up a comparison betwixt the two communities? /trollface disengaged

I'm going to be unnecessarily unkind for a moment: Sir, i can see why you'd be confused into erroneously thinking atheists have no community; it is a prerequisite of "membership" that we each think our own thoughts and rarely agree on anything outside of the lack of existence of supernatural things and perhaps core human values and the inevitable erosion they suffer when people believe in invisible authority figures.

I can vouch for that. My wife (an atheist) is an elementary school teacher. A few years ago, a little girl in her class died suddenly and unexpectedly. At the funeral, the priest gave some canned words about God's plan and some other such bullshit. Cold. Then it was my wife's turn to speak about what this girl meant to her. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. The child's parents were exceedingly grateful. They & others said that was the worthwhile, honest part of the funeral.

@EloquentiaSerpentis "most religious funerals I've been to were meaningless fear-mongering speeches by the priest followed by heartfelt remembrances by the people who loved and cared about the deceased."
Fair enough. But u missed my point about community support and the feeling of being a part of something bigger. Because atheists aren't a community per se, i disagree with your point about "atheist" or civil funerals which AFAIK do not necessarily attract a constituency.

Interesting. Different perspective on community that I had growing up in degree, but I suppose not so different in kind.

Great video! I thought the Jewish community was more based on the clan/ ethnicity than a religious beliefe. (The shadow of holocost still looming) As for the necessity of setting up a buisniss; In most of Europe Jews were not allowed to own (agricultural) land, so merchendice was the only option.
BTW, I have never heared of Jews saying the world is 6000 yo. even though the Tora said so. How orthodox are they really?

most religious funerals I've been to were meaningless fear-mongering speeches by the priest followed by heartfelt remembrances by the people who loved and cared about the deceased. Atheist funerals are about the same minus the hamfisted guilt trips.
or rather: mourning is not the exclusive provenance of the religious. See: any other species of social Mammal.
WOW, i never heard of such community help the Jewish people give each other. it's kind of cool some aspects i really liked . but it is a little self serving. staying a jew to reap the benefits. great shit.
love the porno music by the way. lol.
