His great-great grandfather, Thomas Irons, seems a likely candidate. Born in Dundee in the early 1800s, he was a policeman turned political agitator jailed for his part in a series of planned insurrections. His mother's side reveals descendants who lived in Cork, where the actor now lives. Apart from the genealogy, this well executed program provides a fascinating glimpse into the important but little known movement of Chartism.
