9/3/2000, Out of the Night Came You is by Horace Silver. I learned that song around 1980 when I was in a band in Columbus, Ohio called: The Seeds of Fulfillment. We played what was then called Jazz-Rock and Funk, but played some straight ahead Jazz tunes too. That was a great band. Carol Rand and Rusty Jones were so nice to work with. There's nothing like a mutual admiration club to inspire Jazz improvisation. I'd make a career out of this if I could. Frank Carr from the Famous in the Future comedy group made the video.

  • I learned the tune by ear off of Horace Silver's record around 1980 for a band I was in at that time. I'm sure the song is published now in one of the Jazz fake books.
