This is Eve Darling for the National Optimists Party. I’d like to offer a comment of this summer’s vociferous public debate over healthcare. And that comment is this: Tsk tsk. Your public behavior, your lack of understanding of the issues is scandalous. Ambrose Bierce defined positive as wrong at the top of one’s voice. Public ignorance is understandable, given that we have been misdirected and hornswoggled once again. Uncles Abbot, Pfizer, Kaiser, and Costello have once more hoodwinked us with their shell game. But if we are fooled yet again, why proclaim our ignorance and gullibility so loudly? Death panels!?, please. Keep government out of my Medicare?!, indeed!
To indicate unambiguously under which shell the pea lies, let me succinctly summarize the central issues of the current debate over health insurance reform as it is now framed thus:
If healthcare reform is approved, the insurance and pharmaceutical companies get more customers.
If healthcare reform is defeated, the insurance and pharmaceutical companies get more customers.
It is this condition that should be the cause of so much popular anger over the topic, not death panels, not socialism and certainly not Adolph Hitler. It is the 3,300 healthcare lobbyists in Washington, who outnumber legislators there six to one and the drug companies, who spent $134 million dollars lobbying Congress in the first six months of 2009 who have turned the debate to their own advantage.
You are citizens in a representative democracy. Your legacy, our legacy is founded on the principle “No taxation without representation.”
In our National Optimists Party you shall find representation. In the area of healthcare that representation of your interests will take the form of a national policy of full spectrum, cradle to grave health assurance. In our National Optimists Party you shall not find an onerous and unsupportable tax burden to pay for it. This is our pledge.
In 1942 most Jews in Europe said that same thing you did about death camps and no country ever had death camps before Hitler and most countries in Europe have death panels.

well think of it this way, even if what your saying about "Obamacare" is true (Which it isn't) what would be the alternative? Without this plan they wouldn't even GET the pill. Obamacare isn't going to be top of the line insurance but trust me its better than nothing at all or worse thousands of dollars in debt.

Is this is another political party? I am starting to beleive that there is no form of government without major flaws ... even the lack of government has its downfalls ...
