Rappelling in Belize

In January, 2011 I met Paul in Hamanasi Resort in Belize. We agreed to sign up for an outing - to hike into the jungles of Belize up to the top of the Black Hole - a huge sink hole at the top of a mountain. With instructions from expert local guides we put on rappelling gear, grabbed on to a rope and walked backwards off a 300 foot cliff. One at a time we descended 200 feet to the tops of the trees growing in the basin below. Then we dropped the last 100 feet to the forest floor. After an especially tasty lunch we hiked back out. Quite an adventure.
